Worship

Worship is not just something that we do once a week. Worship is who we are when we give our lives to Christ. Everything we do becomes an act of worship when it is done for God. However, we recognize the dire need for Christians to gather together regularly. When we gather, we lift each other up, pray for each other, commune with each other, and remind ourselves that our focus every day needs to be on Jesus Christ and the mission he has for us.

Sunday School

Beginning at 9:30 on Sunday mornings we gather to study God's word in Sunday School. We currently offer five different Sunday School classes.

We have one group which meets in the Fellowship hall. This class is discussion led and really allows for a deeper and honest conversation.

The second group meets in Room 3 and is more study led.

Then we offer three types of Sunday School for our Children and Youth. The Early Christian Academy is led by one of our volunteers and utilizes songs and props to convey the gospel message to our youngest of brothers and sisters.

Our second is a hands on Godly Play Course led by another volunteer. Godly Play is a multi-sensory play curriculum that takes our older children through the Bible Stories, giving them an opportunity to really grasp the major themes of the Story of God.

Our third is new and specifically for our youth.  Children 6th grade through 12th grade will spend time learning and exploring the word of God.  Our goal is to get them more involved with their communities and their faith.  They meet upstairs in the youth room on Sunday mornings.

Worship Service

Worship begins at 10:30am in the Sanctuary. Led by Pastor Bryan Rogers, we gather together to sing songs, read scripture, hear the world proclaimed, and respond to God's word through our offerings and communion.

We currently offer a blended style of worship where both Hymns and Contemporary songs are used to help us connect with God and with each other through song as well as focus us on the message.

We believe it is important for us to gather together with a community of believers. We know that living in the world is hard, but that Christ created his church to remind us that we will never be alone.

We hope that you come to find First UMC Odem a loving family. We know you have many options and opportunities to worship with believers, and for that we are thankful. Most of all, we hope that you see Christ in us, and know that we love you because Jesus first loved us.

Wednesday Communion

Beginning at 6:30 on Wednesday evenings, we gather together for weekly communion. This is an opportunity for us to gather together mid-week and refresh our hearts and minds as we work through the week. We sing, read and proclaim the Scriptures and, commune with each other and with God.
